Bill Fontana
During heavy rains in San Francisco in 2017, the artist Bill Fontana recorded a series of motion studies while guarding his studio against further flooding. In WHITE MOTIONS (2017), patterns of falling rain become layered and abstracted in slow motion. Fontana captured the sounds through accelerometers (vibration sensors) that he mounted on the steel tubular hand rails on the steps outside his studio and house.
