화창한 여름날 컨테이너 구둣방 안에서 더위와 싸우는 종호. 짜증나는 손님들에 이리 치이고 저리 치이는 하루. 구둣방 안으로 들어오는 현숙을 보며 마음의 안정을 찾은 종호는 현숙에게 이런저런 푸념을 늘어놓는데… (It's one hot summer day. And it's also just another day of annoying customers for the shoeshine man fighting against the weather. He finds his peace of mind as he saw the lady on the phone walking in his salon and he starts talking about this and that.....)  연출의도(Director's Note). 사람들이 걷는 동안 늘 지지대가 되어주는 구두. 이런 구두를 새것 같이 닦아주는 구둣방 아저씨. 하지만 이 아저씨는 자신의 푸념을 늘어놓을 만한 상대마저 없다는 생각이 들었다. 늘 자신의 이야기보다는 타인의 이야기에 맞춰서 얘기하는 구둣방 아저씨를 영화 속에 등장시키면서 우리들이 가지고 있는 의사소통의 방향성이나 일방성에 대해서 얘기하고 싶었다. (People rely on the shoes when they walk, run and stand. And the shoeshine men shine their shoes. It occurs to me that the shoeshine men really don't have someone who listens to them. It's always about them listening to others. I wanted to point out the directional matters of our communication by showing this common case of unilateral communication.)
